This week, dance artist Mirte Bogaert and lyricist Morten Wintervold is in place at Small Projects premises in Tromsø. We are proud and excited to put together these two signature-strong artists for a week's artistic laboratory work in ArtLab's second season. Bogaert is a Belgian dancer based in Bergen, with a background from the School of Contemporary Dance in Oslo and Research Studios at PARTS in Belgium. Morten Wintervold is a lyricist living in Tromsø and works as a university lecturer at the Author Study at the Norwegian Arctic University, UiT. He debuted with the poem collection Outfall at Orkana publisher in 2002, and has since released five critically acclaimed collections at the publisher Cappelen Damm. Wintervold also works as a writer, critic, reiterations of poetry and drama and has spent six years the Norwegian Author Association's Literary Council.
Mirte Bogaert has a special interest in sound and language, and explores in her artistic work different strategies to integrate body, movement, sound, light and text with each other. In ArtLab #7, exploration of the relationship between body and language continues in collaboration with lyricist Morten Wintervold, and with a focus on body translation and movement language. Material for the work they collect from the history of the Hillesøy woman found in a boat pit from around 800 on Hillesøy outside Kvaløya in Troms, in 2017. Key words in the material are skeletons, voice and silence, and through this they explore translation of text to body, by voice to body and body to voice.
The event is free and just come.
We fill the room with as many as it is allowed under infection protection rules.
This event is organized by the ArtLab and its curator Tale Næss.
