Jet works with various media such as sculpture, installation, video, film, performance, drawing, photography, and painting. His work is grounded on his lived experience as a Filipino migrant in the Norwegian arctic.
As a Filipino, colonization, political violence, religion, migration and diaspora are some aspects of a complex history that Jet carries with him. This has served as a foundation for his artistic practice and has been an important project that he continues to do as he makes sense of his place in the North Norwegian contemporary reality.
Jet studied painting at the University of the Philippines under Roberto Chabet and Dan Raralio. While being a student he also worked as a studio assistant to the sculptor Dan Raralio. He also received a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo and a Master in Fine Arts degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bergen, Norway. In 2020, he received his PhD in Artistic Research degree from the Tromsø Academy for Contemporary Art and Creative Writing.
Jet is the founder and curator of Small Projects, an art space which he founded in Manila in 2001 and continued to run in Tromsø from 2011 to the present. He is also presently the artistic director for the Møre and Romsdal Art Center in Molde, Norway. His work has been shown at the Jakarta Biennale, Manifesta 10 Parallel program, Helsinki Photo Festival, Paris Photo, and the Unseen Photo Festival in Amsterdam, ALT Philippines Art Fair, Bærum Kunsthall, The Drawing Room Manila and Torrance Art Museum Los Angeles.
