Caroline Ariane Bergeron, Marie-Claude Gendron og Jocelyne Thibault, from Canada, are presenting their latest art work and research at Small Projects. They have worked with sustainable creativity and new printmaking techniques during their residency (AIR) in Prima Ink. Marie-Claude Gendron will also perform.
An important aspect of their work is the environmental impact of the materials that they are using. They use different non-traditional printmaking techniques to make their artistic practice more eco-friendly. Among the things they do is to use vegetal ink, making their own recycled paper and using sea weed as a material in the paper.
The three artists are part of an international exchange program between L’imprimerie in Montreal and Prima Ink in Tromsø.
L’imprimerie, centre d’artistes is a production artist-run centre dedicated to the practices of print and photography. It is one of the largest artist-run centres in Canada. The artists have been chosen by a jury to participate in this exchange program, and this is the first international exchange program that L’imprimerie is participating in.
PRIMA INK is a printmaking studio in Kysten, Troms fylkeskultursenter, that aims to become a dynamic arena for visual artists and anyone interested in art. In Prima ink, artists and visitors can practice and explore different techniques and create diverse types of prints.
